Ive been a bad bad girl

I haven't written in weeks!
Mainly for the sole reason that i have been so ridiculously busy here and all my friends are back from uni and its been here/pub/out and repeat!!
So as much as i have been moaning to anyone that will listen that interning has made me so poor...I FUCKING LOVE IT!
I love it so much im going to carry on doing 1 day a week when i go back to uni!
PR it seems is the route i want to go down career wise...PA is also something i have realised i rather enjoy doing! Yes internships seem more trouble than they are worth because of the lack of pay but the things i have learnt so far (namely the career i think i want in life) i would never have known if i hadn't taken this internship!

Im off to make my parents a banana cake for the anniversary !

Slacking already

I have been so busy/tired/i have so much going on but so far the last two days have been cool!
Miss XXX has a producer from LA and his girlfriend staying, he is a babe.
Although i'm not getting paid i got told i am to important to be called an intern and am now an assistant, which pretty much made my day!
Homegirl is back from LA to, Homegirl works with Miss XXX (there is only the two of them) and she got me the intern.
All is good in the hood and i promise ill get back on track and write properly on Thursday!

I do apologize

I didn't get round to writing anything yesterday, i was in the studio but we was soo busy with people coming in and pulling etc. So yes got in at 10 and Miss XXX and i went down to the newsagents to pick up Look magazine (a pair of sun glasses were featured) on our return there were a few sample bags waiting so i set to work sorting them and updating the follow ups list. This all doesn't seem exciting but its things that need to be done! Not everyday can be an ELLE day!

The first person in was from Labb magazine and she pulled LOADS and i mean loads, like 20-something pieces all together! Half way through her visit one of the jewelry designers came in to go through her pieces with us. Her pieces are amazing! She makes leg chains and arm chains and chest pieces and shoelery (as the name states). She was so down to earth and even named one of her new pieces after me, a dyed red flattened rabbits head chest piece. It sounds grosse but its all totally awesome and she only sources her taxidermy from sources that have the pieces already.

Labb magazine had gone by this point and soon after we were joined by two stylists from Germany (i can't remember the magazine name...) but again they were really nice! The pulled quite a lot and everyone seemed really happy with how the day had gone. A lot had been taken and the stylists all seemed positive that pieces would be shot.

Once everyone had left the studio it was just Miss XXX and i and she gave me the last job of the day, writing a press release! Now although i am studying journalism i have never actually done this before, i've only recently decided that PR is a route i want to take within the fashion industry. So after an hour of writing, sore eyes and a bit of a headache i finished and sent a copy to Miss XXX and left for the day slightly worrying if she would be disappointed in my writing skills (it had been the first time i had done any writing for her)

Later on i received a text "Brilliant press release! X"

ELLE

Today was a day of 'desk visits' if you aren't familiar with this term its where the PR companies visit magazines with next seasons merchandise so they publications can get a feel for what the designers will be doing next season.
So today we had two 'desk visits' and an appointment with On|Off (they run the more conceptual shows at LFW). First of all the deputy fashion editor at POP FORGOT SHE HAD TO MEET US!
To be fair i was a bit disappointed with this but she seemed to be really sincere with her apology and she promised to visit the showroom next week. This is good for me as it means i don't have to carry bags of clothes across London.

Next we went over to Machine A and Beyond the Valley, Beyond the Valley was having a sample sale. You can guess what happened next. Tbf i bought one thing and its a sick little tee i am going to very much enjoy wearing!
So yes, Miss XXX and i were having a natter with Kirsten in BTV when On|Off called and informed Miss XXX that we would have to re-arrange as the person we were meeting was sick. At this point all i could think was FAIL.

But the sun was shining and we had 3 hours to spare so we went over to that pub on the corner of Carnaby Street, the one near Liberty. We had a few drinks then moved onto Marble Arch and grabbed a salad at this cute little italian while we waited for our ELLE appointment. Basically I LOVE ELLE. I knew this before i went in, but the people i met re-affirmed this! The 3 girls we met were all so lovely, i know this wont be the case with everyone i meet in "the industry" but today was one of those days when you realise there are nice people in the fashion industry.

So apart from a few hiccups at the start of the day, i would say today was a good day!
Oh yeh sorry there is no outfit post today, i overslept. my bad!

Today...

I pulled items for a Sugar shoot, due to take place in New York next week. I didn't ever read Sugar so i'm not sure if the items i sent over were a bit much but we shall see.
Sorted some samples that had been returned and then set off on todays errands. First stop was Hoxton Sq for a pick up, i couldn't help but go into that sick trainer shop just off the square, unfortunately i'm not a size 8. Next Oxford circus where i had to pick shoes up from Machine-A http://www.dazeddigital.com/Fashion/article/6824/1/Machine-A CHECK THEM OUT. This shop is amazing, its the go to destination for overseas stylists etc when they come to London and GaGa and Rhi Rhi have been known to have the store closed just for them!
Quick pick up at Company and then my drop off at Tank. I saw LuLu at Tank, she is Tanks intern and is so lovely, i met her Monday when she came to the studio and it was nice to see a friendly face on my travels.
Back to the studio and i was bang on it with the returns and emailed a few bloggers about featuring some of our designers. BUSY DAY, BUT FUN DAY.

Thursday is the new Friday

Apart from the 4hours i do at a pub between 12-4 on a Saturday, Thursday is my Friday.
This is me today...

I'm wearing an issey miyake shirt, gym leggings (i like the thickness) and my vans (obvs)
Also im aware i look like a child in this picture but my face doesn't wish to obey me today.
The weather is trying to fool me again, so im unsure what i'm going to fling over the top. But i have a umbrella incase i have to do any running about.

LOVEBOX tomorrow.

The days not over yet

So far today has been a busy one...
First thing this morning i had to go to Fulham (via London Fields) to drop the samples off for Kate Nash. Im telling you she better bloody wear them after what i went through.
I had it all. Cancelled trains, scary men sitting so close next to you on the bus you don't want to breath, a broken oyster and when will i learn that grey in the sky doesn't always indicate cold weather and wearing a leather jacket in July = bad idea.

On an awesome note...
a trip to Paris was mentioned and i get to accompany Miss XXX at a meeting with POP magazine and LFW on Monday.

Back to pulling pints for four hours tomorrow, but i will be back Thursday.

First morning up at half six

I haven't got up at this time for heavens knows how long. Im used to going to sleep more around this time...Anyway i still look like im half asleep so i've cut my head off the picture for the sake of my dignity.
This is me today...

Today i'm wearing leather, dress from topshop, tights and my military boots. I think the tights and leather will be a mistake by 2o'clock. But we shall see.
Im not getting the bus from bridge, spicing things up a bit on my second day and opting for train, tube, train.
Ill let you know how today goes.
PEACE

Lesson 1

ALWAYS check the samples bag.
My very sore feet will be a reminder of this, its no fun dropping off samples, realising something is missing, going back to the studio, then going back to the drop off and then back to the studio!

BUT on a much more positive note...
I got to help pull clothes for Tank magazine, Kate Nash and the two best quotes from Miss XXX today were
"feel free to chill out, play some nintendo wii and eat something" and "the neighbours smoke loads of pot and it comes up through the fire escape"

I was in my element.

Day 2 tomorrow...
PEACE

First day

I don't have to be in till 12 today, result!
This is me today...

Im wearing £3 lacy shirt from Glastonbury, denim cut offs, tights, vans (obvs) and my leather jacket.
Here is a better picture of my shirt, its amazing. It had shoulder pads in but they were so huge i cut them out. (Btw that picture makes me look like the pillsbury doughman, i'm not)

So yes, ill blog again later and let you know how my fist day went.
PEACE

Sunday, 13 June 2010

This must be about the sixth blog i have started and yet again i'm telling myself this time i will commit.
In exactly 5 weeks today i start interning for fashion PR XXX , jizz my pants i cannot wait!
Im mostly going to be pulling pints, sitting on my jack jones, maybe popping to Spain and swanning around at Glastonbury until then, so until i take my steps into the big wide world of interning i doubt i will actually write much.
But once i start i promise to write everyday im interning. I want to try and give an honest portrayal of what it is actually like to intern, the fucking gnarly stuff i get to do as well as the boring shit.

The company is obvs not called XXX, i just don't really wanna let every next person know where i am talking about.

PEACE
